Military service teaches you how to go "outside the box" to get tasks done more cost effectively. Some rules are meant to be broken. I worked at Base Contracting and the Colonel sent me downtown to a machine shop to purchase an aircraft bearing for $4.00 while the government contract for this same part was being submitted for $600 each.
